Growing Up

It seems like we've started a new life and in a lot of ways, we have. The past several months have been a whirlwind of our last days as students living in Indiana. A lot has happened and I feel like all three of us are growing up too fast. Here's a taste of what's gone on.

Conference:

Here's a picture of us doing what has become a Conference tradition. Puzzles. Travis and I started doing a jigsaw puzzle the first conference weekend we were married and this year we found a way for Carsen to participate without tearing all our work apart.

Easter

This was the Saturday before Easter and it was a beautiful day. Sunny, but cold enough for sweatshirts. My favorite kind of weather. We went to an Easter egg hunt put on by the city of Mooresville in "Puff the Magic Dragon Park" (Pioneer Park). They really do an awesome job and we ended up seeing several people there from our ward.

On a competitive note, Travis picked Carsen up when the starting whistle blew and headed for a corner full of eggs. We wanted Carsen to pick up the eggs himself, but the only way Travis could get him to fill his basket was by telling him that he could count the eggs he put in his basket. Carsen put 26 eggs in his basket and counted each one.

So the Easter Bunny himself was a little scary. I'd be nervous too with those crazy purple eyes. The good thing was we got coupons for free milkshakes .... double chocolote w/out mini chips!

This was the last time we went to "Puff the Magic Dragon Park." You can see the green/blue dragon toy behind my boys that prompted Carsen to name the entire park after one of his favorite songs. I used to take Carsen to this park in the early mornings of summer. Before 9:00 when the weather got just too hot to handle. So long Mooresville.

May:

The very end of April we got a call about a dental practice in Nampa, Idaho. Since Travis was going to graduate just a few weeks later and we had nothing firmed up for employment, he headed out to interview the first of May. Carsen and I went with him to check out housing and visit Grandma and Grandpa Barton and of course Uncle Keith who would be over that way.

I took this goofy pictures when Carsen tried on my cowgirl boots as we were trying to pack.

Glamour Garage

Trying to cram every last bit of Indy out of our last week there, we visited our friend's the Weiss family at their garage. We saw a couple of beautiful motorbikes there and then went to some other garage's nearby where they were working on various race cars.

Unfortunately the rest of the pictures I took here didn't turn out. But Carsen especially had such a fun afternoon here chasing Adam (6ish) and Darren (elevenish) Weiss around. I asked Tina if she'd be willing to part with a few of her kids. I guess Carsen will just have to live with older uncle's instead of older brothers.

Graduation:

Saturday, May 9th, Travis graduated from Dental School. We had both sets of grandparents there, Keith and Brian, and Crissy with her girl Addison. It was quite a celebration. Our place was kind of a mess since we were scheduled to move Monday but thanks to both our families for all the support and help they gave us that busy weekend.

I know Travis isn't going to like this picture of himself, but I wanted to be in at least one and the other picture of us I have is of me wearing multiple camera's, a purse, and a diaper bag on my arm. At least you know I'm strong.

The Family:

I love this picture, Keith and Carsen staring out in opposite directions.

Again, you can see why Keith and Carsen get along so well.

Mom Edwards, Travis, Dad Edwards, Crissy, Addy, and Piglet

I love this video! Because we were so far back, Travis didn't hear Carsen but everyone else in our section did.

More seriously, Travis was nominated by his class to speak at graduation and he did an amazing job. He shared a story of Elder Holland's from a talk titled "An High Priest of Good Things to Come". Elder Holland tells of the trials he faced going into graduate school. Travis shared the story and closed by telling everyone that he hoped that during trials and challenges, we would all trust in God and hope for good things to come. It was the perfect close to graduation. I think you're amazing Travis, and I won't tell anyone that I wrote your talk ~ (just kidding)

So long IU School of Dentistry

  5. It's so funny to think that a month after Stuart graduated BYU-I, Travis was graduating from dental school. Seeing how well things have gone for you gives me hope for things to go smoothly for us once we're done here and ready to settle down somewhere for longer than 4 years.
